Na Pali Coast of Kaua'i

One of the most beautiful, yet rarely visited sights in Hawaii is the Na Pali coast of Kaua'i.  Not only are there no roads in this area, to hike in requires a state permit and some times during the year it is prohibited.  These photos were taken from the deck of a cruise ship, but you can get helicopter and boat rides along the coast as well.
Many historians believe this rugged area was the first to be colonized by the early Hawaiians.  Settlements were probably in valleys such as the one in the above photo.
