Kalanikai is the name of the condo complex where we made our home base.  It is located in the heart of Kailua-Kona at Kuakini Hwy. and Henry St. We were fortunate to find this gem in paradise.  Its grounds are like a botanical garden and I thought you would like to see the great flora and plants of Kalanikai. To the left is a cactus tree!  I've never seen a cactus tree before, but that sucker is about 30 feet tall!

I'm not sure how it came to be that tall, but it is quite a sight.

Every where you look at Kalanikai is yet another marvel. I guess that is why we never got tired of coming home.

To the right is a traveler's palm.  For some reason I like these trees more than any other palm.  This one is quite a bit taller than most.

The plant below is growing out of lava.  Well enough of the talk, let's see some pictures.

Above is the single candle wax palm on the property. I don't know why there were not more because they are a very pretty plant.

That is a tour of the grounds of Kalanikai.  Most of the plants were the work of one of the early manager's wife who really had a green thumb.  Of course a green thumb is easier to have in Hawaii.

Next a few photos of the inside of our condo.  Like they say home is where the heart is.  Guess where our hearts are.
